Gina
Cacho (BSc) (Director / Eco-living consultant / Writer)
A long held appreciation for all things natural has culminated in CleanLife for
this self confessed do-gooder. Gina became vegetarian at age 12 when a frozen
Kangaroo tail dropped from the freezer to hit her bare foot one hot, summers’ day. “Enough” she
declared “is enough”. As a teenager Gina could often be found in
the kitchen combining natural concoctions for super smooth skin and hair. She
has been known to use avocado for a full body mask. Extensive travel proved the
catalyst for CleanLife by bringing home the realization
that this world is far too beautiful for us to continue destroying. Gina believes
that by living a CleanLife we can all improve our
personal health, that of our environment and assist in improving the health and
quality of life of our poorer neighbours. Gina's degree in the health sciences provides
the perfect background for critical analysis of the latest research into current
chemical intake and the impact it has on our health and our environment.
Shona Hunter (Business Development Manager / Sales )
At the tender age of 16, after reading various books on peak oil and environmental politics, Shona became passionately driven to “save the world”! Shona studied sustainable development at uni before leaving to have her first child. It was then that Shona realised the true essence of saving the world, begins in the home. As a mother, Shona changed her habits, doing whatever she could to reduce her environmental impact in the home (including washing 1000’s of cloth nappies!). While managing a local wholefoods store for three years and juggling motherhood, she gained an intimate knowledge on eco living and organic products and soon became a community campaigner for Fair Trade. Currently Shona is working on “greening up” her career and has founded The Ethical Entrepreneur – a freelance sales agency representing a colourful array of fair trade, organic, biodynamic and sustainable businesses – of which CleanLife forms an important and integral part. Shona’s wish is to bring “eco” products mainstream, and her favourite motto is: “all the little things make for one collective BIG thing!”.
Kristen Barker (Researcher / Writer)
Ever since she viewed the documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” by Al Gore, Kristen has been keen to expand her knowledge about how humans affect the natural environment. Her interest in the environment began at the age of 15, when she came to the realization that humans have a much larger influence on natural world that she first thought. After a 1-week stay at Golden Door Health Retreat QLD in 2007, Kristen has been striving to live a CleanLife by switching her beauty products to organic where possible and becoming a more ‘eco’ minded consumer. Kristen is currently completing a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health at Curtin University.
