Personal Care
Consultations
Before putting on perfume today you may
want to consider that most contain dibutyl
phthalate. Not only is this chemical
an endocrine (hormone) disrupter,
a proved teratogen (agent causing abnormal
foetal development) and a carcinogen
(cancer causing agent) in animals,
but it is also on the Environmental
Protection Authority list of extremely
hazardous substances. Oh and don’t
bother looking on the label. Dibutyl phthalate
is not required to be listed as an ingredient.
In this consult CleanLife addresses
the ever-increasing risks of dangerous chemical exposure
via skincare, cosmetics, and toiletries. This consult provides
an education session on dangerous chemicals to look out
for and a review of the current literature and research
in the area. We then take a look at the products you and
your families are currently using and assess them for safety
and environmental impact. Your consultant will recommend
a variety of products that may suit your needs and also
provide you with some CleanLife personal
care recipes that you can make yourself from ingredients
you probably already have in your fridge and cupboard! CleanLife have
tested all recipes and the products recommended on ourselves
and our family and friends for quality and effectiveness.

Cleaning Consultations
Currently there is no legislation in Australia requiring
producers of cleaning products to list all ingredients
on their labels and far worse than that, there is no
body to regulate which substances should not go into
these products in the first place.
Ever feel you just don’t want to do the dishes?
Your body may be telling you more than you think. Most
detergents release benzene vapours,
especially when combined with hot water. Benzene is derived
from Toluene or gasoline and
is a highly toxic solvent. It has been listed as a liver,
endocrine, respiratory and neurological toxin. It may
also cause skin allergies and is known to be both a carcinogen and
a teratogen.
If you want to really clean and not just increase your
indoor air pollution, which unfortunately is exactly what
most conventional products do, this consultation is for
you.
Education is our first priority and the session starts
with information on the various types of chemicals in current
cleaning products, their risks for the individual and the
environment and how to spot them. We will assess your individual
cleaning needs including surface and flooring types and
areas.
Recommendations for alternative products and cleaning
methods will be determined by the assessment results and
we will also provide you with some CleanLife cleaning
recipes and tips you can make from products you probably
already have in your garden and cupboard.

Baby Care Consults
Highly permeable skin with a large surface area and
increased respiratory and metabolic rates make babies
highly susceptible to all chemical sources, be they from
the home environment, cleaning products, cosmetic products
or the backyard.
If you have little ones or are planning to, this consult
will provide information that you just won’t get
in your pre or post-natal classes. The session includes
education on the impact of conventional baby care toiletries,
nappies and clothes. It is not only what you put on your
baby that impacts his or her health. Cosmetics, skincare,
cleaning products and backyard chemical use all impact
children through direct exposure (inhalation, absorption)
and through breast milk. (Please note we still recommend
WHO (World Health Organisation) guidelines that breast
is best and merely encourage women to make their breast
milk the best it can be!)
Recommendations for baby clothing, bedding and toiletries,
cosmetics suitable for mother and baby will be made. Basic
education on how to avoid backyard chemical exposure will
also be provided.

Consultation
by design
All consultations are performed in the privacy and comfort of your home.
We tailor the consult to meet your needs, no two families are the same
and nor are their CleanLife consults.
A phone interview precedes all consults so that we can find out about
your needs and concerns and ensure that we arrive with all the relevant
information and research. If none of our standard consults fit your purpose,
let us know and we will see if we can develop one for your specific needs.
All CleanLife consults include
a 6 month free product assessment bonus. Of course we will always be
only a phone call away should you have more questions, queries or concerns.

New Home Consults
Building a new home is almost always stressful; Clean Life will take
the effort out of finding the best options for your health. Everything
from paint and flooring to linen and mattresses, have the potential
to off-gas dangerous chemicals into your environment for a significant
period of time (often years). We provide education on the risks of
certain product types and provide alternative recommendations.

Garden Consults
The use of backyard pesticides has now been linked to increased risk
of childhood leukemia in children exposed during pregnancy or at a
young age.
We will provide you with information on the risks of these chemicals
and will refer you to our organic gardening experts who can help you transform your garden into an organic wonderland! Whether you want an organic veggie patch or a sweet smelling floral garden, we know the best people to put you in contact with.

School Consults
Given that our children spend 35 hours or so at school for many weeks
of the year, the environment there is just as important as that of
the home. Simple changes can be very cost effective and make a significant
impact on the health of staff and students and both the local and global
environment.

Our Policy
CleanLife’s primary
focus is raising local awareness of the benefits of reducing
dangerous chemical intake in the home, school, garden
and office. Our consultation goal is to leave you with
enough knowledge and information to get started on living
a CleanLife.
We offer free Product Assessment for
the six months after your consult. So if you find a product
that looks good, but you are not quite sure how safe
it is, we can look into it for you. (Product Assessment
is valid for products within the area for which you had
your Consultation. E.g.: a skin cleanser could be assessed
for somebody who purchased a personal care consultation).
We do have a large range of ‘safe’ products
that we can offer to our clients. This arose as a result
of client demand for the convenience of buying the products
from home. CleanLife will
provide all clients with a list of recommended products
for their consult type. Some of these products can be purchased
directly from us; however all of these products can also
be purchased from other outlets. We recommend products
from a variety of different brands, having picked our best
of the best; no doubt you will find your own favourites.
We are always looking for new eco-friendly chemical products
so let us know if you find some goodies. Contact
us
All the products we recommend have been tested by us and/or
our family and friends for effectiveness and have also
been assessed by Clean Life for safety and environmental
impact.
CleanLife recommends
that patch tests are performed for all products. The products
we recommend don’t contain nasty chemicals, but unfortunately
some people have allergies to natural things too.
Lastly, we don’t claim to know everything, so if
you ask us something that we
can’t answer we will be only too happy to look into
it for you.
