10 steps to getting started on
a CleanLife
10 steps to getting started on a CleanLife
1) Start
buying organic fruit and veggies where possible. Collective
delivery schemes or local growers markets are often the cheapest
way to get fresh certified organic produce. Be sure to ask
who the certification body is and the certification number
so you make sure you are getting the real thing. If you are
worried about the cost, cut down on processed foods and bulk
up on veggies, it’s cheaper
and your body will love you for it! Organic farming uses
less water than conventional farming and none of the pesticides
that not only poison our food but also contaminate our
waterways. As an added bonus organic fruit and veg have been
found to be significantly higher in antioxidants and some
nutrients.
2) Get rid of those plastic bags, today! Most
of us have a pile of canvas bags hanging around the house
so that we don’t have to use the dreaded plastic versions.
Of course we always seem to forget to take them to the shop.
CleanLife hint: keep some in the car and some hanging by
the front door and you should be set to make your home plastic
bag free.
3) Start a replacement policy for
your cosmetic, cleaning and gardening products. When your
current products are getting low replace them with truly
natural, chemical free and/or organic versions. If you
are not sure how to find the best products contact us or
check out our recommended product list.
4) Buy recycled products when possible,
from toilet paper and serviettes to converting your office
to use 100% recycled paper, it all helps. At CleanLife we have all our stationary printed on 100% recycled paper
with vegetable based inks.
5) Buy sustainable, organic cotton and hemp
clothing when possible. Ok this one is still pretty hard
to do in Australia, but we will be updating you on the progress
of eco-conscious fashion designers and how to get your hands
on their products in Come Clean (CleanLife’s
email tips). In the meantime buy good quality clothes, that
last for ages rather than cheap seasonal items that end up
clogging up your wardrobe and the planet.
6) Ditch that air freshener and perfume now!
The research here is just too obvious to deny, phthalates
that are found in almost anything that lists ‘parfum’ as
an ingredient and have been linked to birth defects and cancer.
Gina has given up perfume in favour of organic coconut based
oils and Tony doesn’t seem to mind at all!
7) Buy green gifts. Organic chocolate
and wine, a sustainable organic cotton singlet, deliciously
rich chemical free body oil. Sounds like everybody is a
winner with this!
8) Recycle wrapping paper. OK this is Gina’s
big thing. Imagination and not dead trees should be the hallmark
of good wrapping. Gina has been known to wrap wedding presents
in pages of old magazines to great effect and everybody gets
their Christmas presents wrapped in last year’s paper.
It saves trees and your hip pocket!
9) Green up you reading with books and magazines on chemical free living and health. Eco-design books are great for the coffee table and Organic cookbooks are usually a great source of information. Best of all many of these books tend to be printed with vegetable inks and on recylced paper.

that only a modern, savvy and hip crowd can, you are that
