Health Impact
- Many common bath time products contain potentially harmful synthetic chemicals such as Propylene Glycol, Polyethylene Glycol (PEG), Isopropyl Myristate, artificial colours, fragrances and petrochemicals, along with synthetic preservatives such as Imidazolidinyl urea and Parabens
-These belong to a large group of toxic chemicals with uncertain long term health effects. Some of these chemicals have been linked to cancer and developmental defects.
- Up to 60 percent of some ingredients in body and bath care products, such as lotion, cream and bubble bath, will be absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream.

Babies
-Studies show that over 75% of newborns suffer rashes in the first few months of life, and ingredients such as Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) in some skin care products are one suspected cause
-Newborn skin is also more permeable than adult skin which allows increased absorption of product ingredients into the bloodstream
- Babies immature immune systems also have greater difficulty processing some synthetic chemical compounds

Is it time to ditch the Bath Salts?
-NO! A relaxing soak with good quality products and natural candles can be a great stress buster
-Bath salts have been found to have a number of beneficial properties, such as improving circulation, reducing aches and pains, accelerating healing of skin irritations and exfoliating dead skin cells

HOWEVER
-Not all bath salts (and products) are created equal so be sure to read product labels and find products that DO NOT contain synthetic fragrances or petroleum derivatives.
