THE DIRT
- Unlike trees, bamboo is a grass and does not need replanting after harvesting. It simply regrows.
- Bamboo does not require pesticides or fertilizers to grow.
- Some varieties of bamboo can grow up to 120cm in 24 hours. Most bamboo grows to full height (10 to 20 metres) in a few months and then takes around 5 years to harden.
- Bamboo is hardwearing and more durable than most hard wood timbers. It has a tensile strength greater than steel.
- Growing bamboo releases 35% more oxygen than timber.
- Bamboo is used by half the worlds population as food, shelter, fuel and clothing and is a vital non-timber, non-petroleum resource.
- Don't worry about the Pandas, they eat Jian Bamboo while Bamboo flooring is made from Mao Bamboo. In fact there is thought to be 1200 species of Bamboo!
- Bamboo flooring arrives as a finished product so there is no mess or toxic fumes in your home.
- Put simply, Bamboo is a pretty perfect flooring material. It is; environmentally friendly, repels termites, stable in humidity and dry conditions and great for those with allergies.
