Recycling plastic - the latest and the greatest!

This email came from a CleanLife subscriber following our toxic plastics email tip. We love it when readers are able to give us great environmental news. In this case that some of the plastics we thought couldn't be recycled can!!

I really enjoy reading the Come Clean Newsletters.

After reading this weeks edition, I thought I should write back.

Plastics recycling has come a very long way in recent years. The plastics you have indicated as "NOT recyclable" can actually be recycled. It is just that, not all councils in WA collect all plastics for recycling. I live in the Canning council and we are allowed to throw all plastic types into our recycling bin.
Some plastics will have to be dropped-off for recycling. You can find these locations at the following website:
http://www.wastewise.wa.gov.au/pages/hazardous.asp For example, the above link will give you information on where you can drop-off your PP plastic (e.g. plant pots) for recycling http://www.wastewise.wa.gov.au/pages/hazardous2.asp?ID=88

So if you know of any great recycling initiatives in your state or suburb, please let us know by writing a comment to this BLOG. If you are not sure how to BLOG, visit our August 2006 archive on this BLOG for full easy to follow instructions.
