Are Cosmetics the next cigarettes

Are cosmetics the new cigarettes?
When cigarettes were first introduced they were advertised by beautiful actresses who claimed that cigarettes helped them to look, feel and sound sexy.

Now we know that cigarettes do none of these things and in fact, the most likely result of smoking is death via lung cancer, wrinkly skin, yellow teeth and bad breath. I guess that doesn't make for a great advertising campaign! People have successfully sued tobacco companies for not informing the public of the risks associated with use of their products.

Currently cosmetics and skincare products continue to be advertised by beautiful models and actors who apparently get all their sex appeal from these toxic, chemical ridden and often carcinogenic (that is, cancer causing) compounds.

Will we see a backlash in the future? Will we see these big companies being sued or changing their production practices? I hope so. The information regarding the poor and often untested safety of many of the chemicals used in cosmetics today is there for all to see. These big companies are just hoping you don’t look too hard.

In the meantime I will be chosing truly organic and chemical free cosmetics. perfumes and skincare products. Just a warning read the labels carefully some products labeled natural and organic are nothing but chemicals with a drop of essential oils! I could get into it but well, that's a whole new blog!

Until next time

Gina
